Monday 5th September
Today they put down another sheet of weed resistant matting and created the boundry between my property and the other half of the semi-detatched property.

Tuesday 6th September
Before my neighbor converted their garage into living space, the gap between their garage and mine was just enough to squeeze your hand into, afterwards, there was a gap of a couple of feet, that is now covered by a partial fence panel.
At the time their garage conversion was done, they were unsure who owned the wall that lead to the road and assumed it was mine – as such it was left, and it was also left when they had their driveway replaced and a new wall built.
I later informed them that this was actually their wall, and so as part of my driveway resurfacing, we agreed that the old wall would be knocked down and that they would pay for the new wall to cover up the unsightly mess that was left when it was removed.
The work today also involved spreading the delivery of sand over the drive.
This is the new wall, although it still needs the blue engineering bricks to be installed on the top, or the frost will start to ‘blow’ sections out of the bricks over time.
A new delivery of blocks for the driveway that should have been put on the pavement, however the delivery driver refused to put them there.

There are actually three different sizes of block being used on the drive in a random pattern, however they are purchased as separate items.
Wednesday 7th September
Having started the day by moving all of the blocks off the drive, they then proceeded to level the sand and start laying the blocks in a random pattern
They used lengths of 22mm steel conduit to provide levels to work against, moving them up the drive as they go.
This is how far they had gone by lunchtime.
This is the state of play when they left at around 14:30.
Thursday 8th September
The guys finished off laying the main pattern today, and then cut all of the edge pieces to fit.
They then spread sand over the tiles and leveled some more with a ‘wacker plate’.
The completed driveway as seen from my neighbour’s drive.
The view from the road.
I am very happy with our new driveway, although I am not convinced that the side wall is actually complete – for one, it is supposed to have the same blue engineering bricks on the top, and second, it looks unfinished on the end nearest the road.
At the end of the day, this part is ultimately an issue for my neighbour as he is actually paying for this wall.
