Saturday 20th March
My wife started with sugar soaping the walls in preparation for painting, whilst I performed some more clearing up in preparation for removing the lalinate flooring
This is the lounge after the flooring had been pulled up
likewise for the dining room.
My daughter can be seen in this photo dancing to whatever she was listening to at the time.
She then accompanied me on a trip to the dump to dispose of the flooring and the waste left by the plasterer.
On my return I started the painting with a wash coat of 50% paint, 50% water over the walls and ceilings to seal the plaster.
These photos were taken late on Saturday evening.

Next job was a coat of 100% white on the walls and ceiling followed by a final coat of better quality white on the ceiling.

Here I am applying the edging for the first coat of our chosen paint ‘Moon Waves 6’.
Fritz checking on my progress and making sure I don’t miss any spots.
I continued with a coat of the on the party wall, after which the painting ground to a halt as my wife was not 100% convinced she was happy with the colour now it was up on the wall.
Monday 13th – Friday 24th March
After a week of trying out several other tester pots of similar colours, we finally agreed that Moon Waves 6 was indeed the best colour we could find to go with the sofas and curtains that we had ordered.
Saturday 25th March
Wash coat and first coat of white in the dining room,
including a final coat of white on the ceiling.
A view of the whole dining room.
The reason that the walls around the French doors have not been painted is that the plaster is still drying out.
This area had several thick layers of bonding coat as well as a skim coat on top, so understandable that it will take some time to dry thoroughly.
Sunday 26th March
First coat of Moon Waves 6 for the rest of the lounge.
