Week 41 (October 09 – October 15) – C2 Fall Team Challenge, DH Mountains Wk 2

Monday morning rest day, took the dog for a nice long walk.

Tuesday morning rowing, half marathon for the C2 Fall Team Challenge, low HR recovery row.

Tuesday evening rowing, I went in for the start of some official training which involved a 10 minute warm up (2,288m) and then 3 x 2,000m  at somewhere around max effort.

New PB by 0.1 seconds on the first one, couldn’t match it on the others – too tired from this morning’s HM

Wednesday morning rowing, Dark Horse Mountain Challenge Week 2 – – North America (I chose to do it as a UT1 interval workout with 2:00 rest).

2,000m (9:40.2) warm up, then onto the mountains.

Pico de Orizaba – 5,636m in 22:32.7, 2:00.0/500m average pace, I was aiming for 2:00, so happy with this.

Mount Logan – 5,959m in 24:35.6, 2:03.8/500m average pace, I was aiming for 2:05 so happy with this.

Denali – 6,190m in 26:34.9, 2:08.8/500m average pace, I was aiming for 2:10 so happy with that.

17,785m in 1:13:34.1, 2:04.3/500m average pace = 14,481m for the hour, I’ll take that after yesterday. Average HR was around 160, 2,213m (10:53.4) cool down and stretching.

Thursday morning in at the work gym, 2,000m (10:28.1) warm up, 10,015m low intensity UT2 session, HR below 135, stroke rate 18-20spm, pace 1:25/500m average.

2,238m (11:42.8) cool down and stretching, shower, breakfast in the canteen and up to my desk to start the day.

Thursday evening rowing, low intensity session in my 1x ‘Dark Horse’, mainly 20spm, last section from the bottom back to the boat house at 26-28spm, last OTW evening session for a while as the light fades too fast now.

Friday morning rest day before racing at Weybridge tomorrow, took the dog for a nice long walk.

Saturday morning Weybridge Silver Sculls (see separate post).

Sunday morning 2,011m (9;39.0) warm up for masters rowing, 8+ #4 seat, technical session 18spm concentrating on sitting up, not over extending, timing and strong core (11,182m).

Wandered into Staines after a cup of tea and had breakfast at The George Weatherspoon’s pub before heading back to the boathouse.

Sunday afternoon leisure rowing, leisure 2x, bow seat, lovely row with Joanna (4,713m).

70,284m this week for the C2 Fall Team Challenge, which added to my previous total of 205,244m puts me at 275,528m at the end of the challenge.
