3 x 10:00, 1:30r UT2 20, 24, 20spm (graphs failed to generate for the second and third intervals)

10,020m (46:21.9) ‘cool down’  (also failed to upload after saving), ultimately decided to stop as the club was being prepared for the Christmas meal and they were standing the ergs up to have them out of the way.

I put my name in the hat for the ‘plum pudding’ races, unfortunately they could not happen on the water this year, so two teams of 10 were picked and each team had to row 10,000m on the erg, fastest crew wins a plum pudding for each member.

Each member can row as little or as much as they want, but everyone in the team has to row.

Our team started off with some of our junior members each doing a 1,000m piece, after about 3,000m we were about 50m behind.

We decided to unleash Mark F for a 500m sprint to take us into the lead, so 1:36 later we were about 200m in the lead, a couple of the masters ladies each did 500m pieces, then our leisure rower did a 1,000m piece.

Mark F did another 500m, a bit slower this time at around 1:40 and then a couple more younger juniors did 500m each.

We were now at around 2,500m to go and around 400m up on the other team.

My turn and I pumped out 1,500m at 1:43 to push us even further into the lead.

The other team had decided they needed some help so recruited Joe A from the Senior men’s squad for a couple of 500m pieces.

One more masters lady for a 500m piece then Mark F finished off with a final 500m sprint, we crossed the finish line in 38 minutes and 59 seconds.

The other team finally crossed the line over 3 minutes later in a time of 42 minutes and 19 seconds.

The club president asked who thought it was a good idea to have Mark F and I on the same team as this was potentially a little one sided – however that is just how the names came out of the hat.

Plum puddings all round for our team then I went to get changed and sit down for the club Christmas meal, which as usual was well attended and an absolutely lovely meal with plenty for everyone.

Total this week for the C2 Holiday Challenge is 119,197, running total is now 312,486m
