Week 6 (February 06 – February 12) – Tour De SkiErg, OTW

I was feeling a little beaten up from all of the January challenges and all of the on the water (OTW) rowing so decided to take a few days off, as such I did no exercise on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

I also did not go to archery on Tuesday evening as I had a pretty bad headache.

Thursday morning rowing at work, 2, 000m (9:19.9) warm up and then 5,000m rate capped at 18spm.

Still managed to finish in under 20 minutes although my heart rate was quite high for the duration of the workout. Finished off with a 2,243m (10:32.0) cool down and some stretching

Friday morning skiing, C2 Tour De SkiErg Week 2 – 500m TT.

I was having no end of issues with my heart rate monitor not showing a heart rate – pretty sure I am not a Zombie or a Vampire so I should show a pulse.

Erg Data was also playing up and kept hanging or crashing.

1,000m (5:25.8) warm up, then onto the time trial, if I have any rib pain it will only be for a couple of minutes, so should be bearable.

My current PB is 1:51.2, so I set this as a pace skiier, although every time I tried to go to the pace skiier screen the ErgData app crashed, so eventually I decided to just do the piece without ErgData being connected.

I started off well, it took a while to pull the average pace down so the first 100m shows slower than the actual pace I was hitting (1:46).

100m in 0:22.8, 3m behind the pace skiier, 1.1 seconds off my 100m PB, pace is good, early days
200m in 0:44.2, 1m ahead of the pace skiier, new 200m PB by 0.5 seconds, pace still good, still feeling good
300m in 1:05.8, 4m ahead of the pace skiier, new 300m PB by 0.8 seconds, maintaining the pace, past half way
400m in 1:27.9, 5m up on the pace skiier, new 400m PB by 1.2 seconds, fading fast, just hold on
500m in 1:50.8, 2m up on the pace skiier, new 500m PB by 1.4 seconds, not a big gain but I’ll take it every day.

No rib pain, heart rate not too high, but it took me a few minutes to catch my breath again afterwards.

I had to upload this one from the PM5 via my laptop so it didn’t keep the detailed data required for the graphs. 1,131m (7:14.2) cool down and stretching.

Saturday morning masters rowing, 4- stroke seat technical rowing with a few power pieces, one of about 3Km at 24-26spm (13,571m).

I then walked into Staines and bought some Thai spicy chicken from the market for lunch.

Saturday afternoon leisure rowing, leisure 4x stroke seat, warm up and a few power pieces (3,936m).

Sunday morning masters rowing, 2,000m (8:28.3) warm up, 4- #2 seat, warm up and steady state, followed by more steady state and some power pieces (13,740m).

I then walked into Staines and had a cooked breakfast at The George.

Saturday afternoon leisure rowing, leisure 4x stroke seat, warm up and leap frog with the other 2 quads (4,161m).
