Power Drawbar – Part 2, Plate and Posts

Having sorted the design phase, it was time to start making the pieces of the power drawbar.

I started on the mounting plate

by cutting a piece of 16mm plate

boring a 35mm hole and counter boring to 45mm to a depth of 8mm.

Drilled 4 x 6.2mm holes and counter bored to 11mm to a a depth of 3mm.

Finally drilled the air cylinder mounting holes and tapped to M6.

Here is the plate sat on top of the mill, with the air cylinder separated by some spacers (these were left over from some TV bracket mounts).

Next I made the guide posts from a length of 6mm rod from a scrapped printer.

These are drilled

then tapped M4

then cut to a length of 31mm, 4 are required.

The completed posts with M4 screws, springs and washers
