Week 35 (August 28 – September 03) – Rowing

Monday, rest day, only took the dog for a walk, recovery from the weekend.

Tuesday morning rowing, 2,000m (10:43.7) warm up, 10,015m low heart rate ‘fat burner’ recovery workout whilst watching episodes of Andromeda.

No cool down as the 10K piece was slow enough already.

Wednesday morning, I was in at work for some meetings, so in the work gym, 2,000m (10:05.6) warm up, I was then ‘suckered’ into doing some hex bar deadlifts by the Personal Trainer in the gym, I think I did 10-15 reps of 100Kg.

10 laps of the C2 Real Time Loop, alternating laps, slow: 2:15-2:25, fast: 1:50-1:55.

2,236m (12:51.11) cool down, stretching, shower and breakfast and up to my desk for some meetings.

I was intending to go out on the water that evening but was feeling a little beaten up from the mornings session and decided to pass, plus there was a high chance of rain.

Thursday rest day, still feeling the effects of yesterday’s session, I decided to give myself some more time to recover.

Friday morning rowing, 2,000m (10:48.0) warm up, and then another 10K low heart rate ‘fat burner’ whilst watching episodes of Andromeda.

Didn’t bother with a cool down again because of the low heart rate workout.

Saturday morning rowing, 5,012m (22:30.3) warm up for masters rowing 4x, stroke seat, warm up, steady sate, a couple of ‘blasts’ between the bridges and some 1/2 and 3/4 slide pieces for ‘quick hands’ (12,584m).

Walked into Staines for my usual Thai spicy chicken and rice

Saturday afternoon leisure rowing, 8+, #7 seat, improving my bow side technique (4,595m).

Sunday morning rowing, 5,014m (22:30.7) warm up for masters rowing, 8+, #6 seat, lots of technical pieces to break down the stroke, then building it back up again, finished off with some 20 stroke pieces where we increased the power each time (9,593m).

Chatted for a while with Mark F and did a few more meters on the Erg with him, although I did not record them.

I had by now left it too late to have any of my usual breakfasts, although the ladies masters group had been having a ‘brunch’ and I had a couple of the leftover sausages before going on a walk and buying some doughnuts from Sainsburys.

Sunday afternoon leisure rowing, spent the first half coxing a leisure 4x, then went out in my 1x for 20 minutes, the rest of the group had been taking turns to have their first outings in leisure singles.

During the month of August I managed a total of 106 hours of exercise, walked 173km, ran 40km, climbed 288 flights of stairs, rowed 133km on the Erg and 158km on the water.

By the end of the month my weight was 14 Stone 9lb (205lb/92kg), 1lb gain, again probably due to bigger/heavier meals in the USA.
