Monday morning rowing, 1/2 marathon for the C2 Holiday Challenge,
A good steady state row, the pace dipped a bit after about an hour, but I picked it up again for the finish. I watched the film Amsterdam.
2,244m (12:39.9) cool down and some stretching.
Total for the day is 23,341m, running total for the Holiday Challenge is now 209,819m, which means I have qualified for the 200,000m certificate and the Holiday pin.
Tuesday morning walk, 5,490m (1:10:46) with the dog. the temperature was a bracing -3 Celcius (26.6 Farenheit).
Rest day today, so no rowing or skiing.
Tuesday evening archery, lost track of time helping my son with his computer, decided to take my longbow as it is quicker to setup, fun evening, only 8 people this evening, helped with some general coaching for all of them.
Wednesday morning rowing, I was planning on doing a 10,000m piece this morning anyway, but when it came up on the C2 WoD as a time trial, it was just too good an opportunity to pass up.
2,000m (9:05.5) warm up, a couple of minutes rest, programmed the pace boat for 1:58.7 (my PB is 39:34.1) and off we go.
Set off at about 1:55/500m pace and caught the pace boat fairly quickly
1,000m in 3:51.1, 26.4s down on my 1K PB, this is not a sprint, 27m up on the pace boat
2,000m in 7:45.4, 31s down on my 2K PB, 1 down 4 to go, 40m up on the pace boat
3,000m in 11:39.3, 22.1s down on my 3K PB, pace is dropping off, 54m up on the pace boat

8,000m in 31:27.7, 15.4s up on my 8K PB, 4 down 1 to go, 48m up on the pace boat
9,000m in 35:25.0, I don’t track this distance, let’s push for the last 1,000m, 49m up on the pace boat
10,000m in 39:16.4, New PB by 17.7s, 3:51.4 for the last 1,000m, beat the pace boat by 74m.
Heart rate monitor was playing up throughout, so I took it off at around 6,500m, which cost me some time and distance against the pace boat, although I am not sure it would have made a huge difference to the finish time to have left it on, I was flagging a bit at that point anyway.
I was hoping for sub 39 minutes, but am still very happy with the result.
I ultimately finished 1/1 male Dark Horse Rowing, 1/1 all Dark Horse Rowing, 19/309 male 50-59, 19/350 all 50-59, 21/183 male UK, 21/204 all UK 98/1176 male worldwide and 98/1322 all worldwide.
Finished off with a 2,238m (11:32.1) cool down to work out the lactic acid in my legs after I had regained my breath and then some stretching.
14,238m total for today, 224,057m to date for the Holiday Challenge.
Thursday morning rowing, 2,000m (10:05.3) warm up, then 15,000m for the C2 Holiday Challenge,
Steady state piece today after yesterday’s time trial, so completed it in 1:12:29.3 at an average pace of 2:24.5, new battery in the Heart rate monitor, but looks like it took a while to record corectly.
2,241m (11:32.6) cool down and some stretching. I watched a few episodes of ‘The Librarians’ whilst rowing today.

Forgot to start the session on the SpeedCoach, so had to enter the distance manually on the C2 website.
A cup of tea to warm up again then I walked into Staines and bought some Thai spicy chicken with rice for lunch that I ate back at the boat house and then had another cup of tea before going out with the leisure group.
Saturday afternoon leisure rowing, leisure 2+, stroke seat, Josh steering, warm up to the motorway bridge and then several power 10 pieces on the way back.
