Monday morning rowing, 2,000m (9:49.3) warm up, 10,000m (47:59.2) for the C2 Holliday Challenge.

A relaxed steady state piece at around 2:20 pace, I pushed a little at the end to keep it under 48 minutes.Watched Andor episode 8. 2,237m (11:28.3) cool down and some stretching.

14,237m for the day, running total for the Holiday Challenge is 115,380m.

Tuesday, rest day, I took the dog for a 1 hour walk in the morning.

Tuesday evening archery, I decided to shoot barebow this evening for a change, it took a while to start dialing the groups back in again.

Wednesday morning rowing, 1/2 marathon for the C2 Holliday Challenge.

Another steady state row at around 2:22 pace, with a push from about 2,000m out for a time of 1:39:51.8, watched R.I.P.D 2: Rise of the Damned. 2,247m (12:23.9) cool down and some stretching.

23,344m for the day, running total for the Holiday Challenge is 138,724m.

Thursday morning rowing, 15,000m for the C2 Holliday Challenge.

Pushed this one a little to more than steady state and held between 2:10 and 2:16 pace and a push for the last 2,000m for a time of 1:06:09.1, just under 2 minutes short of my current PB.

I watched Andor episodes 9 and 10. 2,247m (12:17.9) cool down and some stretching to finish off.

17,247m for the day, running total for the Holiday Challenge is 155,971m.

Friday morning skiing, 1,000m (5:59.6) warm up, 10,000m for the C2 Holliday Challenge.

I finished watching Andor episode 10 and then watched episode 11.

4,460m (29:01.3) cool down.

Saturday morning masters rowing, 8+, stroke seat, steady state and power rowing, power pieces at 28spm, 1 long piece at 28spm where we managed to maintain around 1:50-2:00/500m pace, in total we covered 13,579m.

-5 Celcius (23 Farenheiht) this morning! many layers including leggings were required to stay warm, although I removed the top two layers for the long power piece of around 4,000m.

When we put the boat away, there was ice all over the hull and 1-2mm of ice on the lower loom of the oars.

Walked into Staines after a cup of tea and bought some Thai spicy chicken and rice for lunch from the market, which I brought back to the boat club to eat.

The boat house has no heating, so I was starting to get cold prior to leisure rowing, so decided to sit on one of the rowers to warm up again.

Started at a steady state, but ramped it up as I warmed up, stopped just after 5,000m as it was now time for leisure rowing.

It had warmed up to a pleasant 2 Celcius (35.6 Farenheit) outside by this time and lovely flat water on the river, made all the better by me being assigned to row my single for a change.

A relatively short outing of just 4,070m (up to the motorway bridge, back to the church and then in), although I did manage to hit 28spm at around 2:20/500m pace at one point on my way back down.

I completely failed to start the camera before setting off and only managed to record from when I was out of the boat to when I turned the camera off!

It also turned out that the battery in my NK EmPower Oarlock had died, so several failures one after the other on this outing.

Sunday morning masters rowing, -5 Celcius again, although this time with fog so thick we could not see the other side of the river, so no rowing on the water this morning.

Instead we did a power pyramid together on the RowErgs: 1:00@30, 2:00@28, 3:00@26, 4:00@24, 5:00@22, 4:00@24, 3:00@26, 2:00@28, 1:00@30, 2:00 rest @18 between each interval.

I covered around 10,000m during this piece which I had to enter manually for the C2 Holliday Challenge, as I had left my phone at home!

We then had a group chat about aspirations for the coming year with regards training and racing before setting up the room for the Christmas meal.

Unfortunately no Plum Pudding races this year as there was still too much fog. These are usually scratch teams of 4 pulled from a hat that includes masters, seniors and juniors, male and female and could be rowing, sculling, or swimming if the crew fails badly enough!

The meal was very enjoyable with plenty of food for everyone and over 90 people in attendance.
