Week 35 (August 29 – September 04) – Rest and Rowing, Weight Goal.

I have decided to largely give my body a rest from serious exercise this week to give it a chance to recover as I am feeling a little beaten up from all of the efforts this month, so this will be a fairly short post.

Monday was a Bank Holiday so I went for morning I went for a 1 hour walk, unfortunately the dog is limping at the moment so I decided to leave him at home.

Monday afternoon I drove up to Brackley to collect my son and daughter who had been staying with their Aunt, Uncle and Grandmother.

Tuesday morning, a shorter walk again without the dog, but when I arrived home he was too excited for a walk, so I took him for a short walk around the block.

Tuesday evening archery 252 attempt with flatbow. bad sighters, good middle section, then last 2 ends it all fell apart as the light went.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings I did a 1 hour walk, came back and walked around the block with the dog.

Saturday morning masters rowing used the SpeedCoach GPS to record the session. For some reason this was recorded against 1st June – it seems to think the session started in Germany! 4- in the 3 seat again, but 2 changes in the crew – steady state rowing and power pyramids for a total of 13,578m.

Saturday afternoon leisure row, I was placed in a 2x (double scull) and agreed to do the steering from the bow seat. Just as we were pushed out onto the water the heavens opened. We sat there for a while to see if any of the other crews were going to head out and eventually rowed about 500m up the river before turning back, by which time we had about 3 inches of water sloshing around our ankles in the bottom of the boat. In total we managed 1,055m.

We then decided to go back in as none of the other crews had ventured out – the women’s 4x had all hidden in a car and were refusing to venture out on the river.

About 10 minutes after we had packed the boat away the rain stopped and it turned into quite a pleasant afternoon.

Sunday morning rowing, 2 more crew changes, I was still in the 3 seat and today we did ‘ladder drills’ 5 light 1-12 firm, 10 firm, 12-1 light for a distance total of 12,593m.

During the month of August I managed a total of 100 hours of exercise, walked 155km, climbed 335 flights of stairs, hiked 16km, ran 10km, skied 119km, rowed 116km on the Erg and 33km on the water.

By the end of the month my weight was 14 Stone 3lb (199lb/90kg), 3lb loss, although I hit my weight goal of 14 stone on the 26th of August and rebounded slightly the day after.
