Week 3 of Dog Days of Summer (30,000m requirement), shouldn’t be an issue now that I am back home and have access to my RowErg as well as Ergs at work and the boathouse, OTW meters still count as well.
Monday morning, bad night, still not recovered from the ‘jet lag’, other than taking the dog for a walk, this was a rest day.
Tuesday morning rowing, another bad night, really not feeling like exercise, 2,000m (9:55.3) warm up, 10 laps of the C2 Real Time Loop, low heart rate ‘fat burner’ recovery row.
Tuesday evening archery, indoor shooting, for some reason nobody seemed to want t go outside.
Wednesday morning, yet another bad night, this was another rest day.
Thursday morning rowing, at the work gym, 2,000m (9;31.0) warm up with a few power 10’s in preparation for a 500m TT.
500m Time Trial, this month’s work gym challenge, not my best effort, felt relatively light headed and almost an out of body experience.
Not been training for sprints or erging at all for the past month or more, happy with the result, puts me in 1st place for now.
10 laps of the Real Time Loop, slowly pushing the pace up, last 500m at about 1:53
Not sure what happened with the screenshot – it is just as messed up on the C2 logbook.
2,234m (11:30.7) cool down and some stretching, shower, breakfast in the canteen and then up to my desk for an 09:00 call.
Thursday evening rowing, 10 laps of the C2 RTL, while waiting for the leisure session aiming for 24-26spm and 2:07 average pace, pushed it for the last 500m
Leisure rowing, out in my 1x ‘Dark Horse’, someone has been using my boat! only after I had pushed off and rowed across the river did I notice that the footplate was too far forwards as I suspect a junior has been using it (not happy about this).
Row up to the moorings, have a go at moving the foot stretcher, but having issues with this as well as keeping the boat balanced, head back to the boat club landing stage where I pull in and move the foot stretcher back to where it is supposed to be.
Back out again, much better, up to The Lammas and then down to Silvery Sands, back up and in (5,850m).
Friday morning, was supposed to be a SkiErg day, but I really didn’t feel like it after yesterday’s exertions, plus I had slightly overslept anyway.
Saturday morning rowing, 5,014m (22:16.3) warm up for masters men’s rowing, 4x, #3 seat, low stroke rate drills (11,613m).
Walked into Staines for my usual Thai spicy chicken with rice and then back to the boat club.
Saturday afternoon leisure rowing, leisure 4x, stroke seat 18spm, plus a power pyramid (6,350m).
Sunday morning rowing, 5013m (21:54.1) warm up for masters men’s rowing, 4x stroke seat, warm up, steady state, 500m piece and technical drills (10,443m).
Walked into Staines and had McDonalds for lunch before heading back to the boat club.
Sunday afternoon rowing, leisure rowing, in my 1x, confidence building session, still a bit windy so conditions not ideal, good for attempting to build more confidence in rougher waters (6,548m).
Later Sunday I mowed the lawn that had not been touched in 4 weeks and had been subject to a fair amount of rain whilst we were away.
I also attacked the back access road that had not been touched in several months, below are the before and after photos.
I recorded this as an outdoor walk and covered just over 7Km in an hour and a quarter and burned 800 calories.
40,804m OTW meters easily meets the 30,000m requirement for the week, 49,044m on the Erg meets the 20,000m one week behind requirement.
