Spacer &#8211; Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The articulating spacer for the SX2 is a design by Donald Bird that was posted on <a all imperial, but this is a metric sized mill, so I converted all of the dimensions to metric and drew it up in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/products\/fusion-360\">Fusion 360<\/a>.<br \/>This first piece is the front mount plate that is 110x88x19mm.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-QNgYJVdRKUQ\/W6nqerk2TuI\/AAAAAAAAEYk\/zY3O8A11Dog9EP1e8kjoh6M2iltd-Z-AQCLcBGAs\/s1600\/ArticulatingSpacer00.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;margin-right: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"669\" data-original-width=\"416\" height=\"320\" squaring up a suitable piece of aluminium.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a somewhat rough on the rear side, so I decided to flycut it flat.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-eM_TKSshF90\/W6nOIBT6yqI\/AAAAAAAAEYY\/9-zWDBnRnwsA9pp64Eiw0US4tqJKAmBuwCPcBGAYYCw\/s1600\/ArticulatingSpacer12.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;margin-right: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"800\" data-original-width=\"600\" height=\"320\" drilled the mounting holes 8.7mm, then counter bored 14mm to a depth of 9mm.<br \/>The centre hole is about 10mm at this point.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a hole was enlarged to 16mm and then counter bored at 63.5mm to a depth of 0.5mm.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a then flipped over and I started cutting the offset pocket with a 3 flute 10mm carbide endmill.<br \/>This shot was taken after clearing the initial pile fo swarf. <\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: milling off the central chunk to complete the pocket.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;Clearance chamfers were then cut with a 6mm carbide endmill and the corners squared off.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a part was then clamped to the table to allow enoughh height for drilling vertically.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a central hole was drilled through and tapped M8, the outer holes were drilled through 6.5mm and counterbored 10mm to a depth of 9.5mm.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a
