A few years back I purchased some plans from Tim at Benchworks<\/a> for a Multifunction Tool Cart or MF-TC<\/a><\/p>\n

and decided it was finally time I actually built one.<\/p>\n

Sketchup<\/a> plans were included as part of the pack, and as I am 6’4″ tall, I decided to modify the plans slightly to make the work platform a bit taller, this also allowed me to incorporate an additional drawer.<\/p>\n

Some other modifications included making use of a 18mm work surface, 12mm table and slightly larger T-Track as I could not locate any that was similar in size to the ones Tim used.<\/p>\n

I also adjusted the height of the adjoining tables.<\/p>\n

I decided to make use of some M10 adjustable feet with Tee nuts instead of the feet shown in the drawings, but could not be bothered to re-draw them.<\/p>\n

Likewise my wheels will most likely be sack truck wheels of some sort, rather than Festool wheels.<\/p>\n

I copied all of the parts into a new Sketchup<\/a> model and then proceeded to dismantle the cart and tables to lay them out on sheets of board to generate a cutting plan.<\/p>\n

The main reason that the 18mm board at the top shows the parts on either side is because I had a couple of almost half sheets left over from when I built my workbench slightly too wide.<\/p>\n

The leg pieces were laid out on 3m lengths of rough sawn 225x45mm timber.<\/p>\n

You may notice that there are way more legs than would be required to build an MF-TC, and this is because I also decided to make some wooden sash clamps at the same time.<\/p>\n

The design I used is by John Heisz from Ibuildit.ca<\/a>, he has instructions<\/a>, Sketchup plans<\/a> and a Youtube video<\/a>, showing how to make them.<\/p>\n

The plans are imperial, so I decided to convert them to metric and then generate 3 different lengths and an exploded drawing to take measurements from.<\/p>\n
