Ever since I made my clamps<\/a>, I have been tightening\/loosening them with a socket on a drill and a pair of nuts jammed together on the end of the all thread.<\/p>\n

I thought it was high time I made some handles.<\/p>\n

I decided to make use of a jig designed by Neil Paskin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This is shown in the following Pask Makes <\/a>video. The plans<\/a> are available on his website<\/a>\u00a0and also from a link in the comments section of his video.<\/p>\n

I cut the parts from 18mm plywood<\/p>\n

and glued them together, they also have brad nails holding the parts in place.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The original design calls for M6 threaded inserts which I don’t have at present, so I decide to make use of some wood screws, just like in the original version of the jig Neil shows in his video<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I cut the patterns from 3mm plywood, these are held in place with a couple of plasterboard screws.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

I also cut the various angle pieces for 5, 6 and 8 sided handles<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Next I found a piece of hardwood that I could use for the backstop and cut that to shape.<\/p>\n

I cut a bunch of 35x35mm blanks, these are slightly longer than the 110mm called for by the plans, but the piece I was cutting them from was around 250mm in length, so I just cut it in half, they still fitted in the jig.<\/p>\n

I decided to make use of the 5 sided former and made 8 handles for my clamps.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

After some sanding, I drilled a 9mm hole, added some glue and threaded them onto the M10 treaded rods.<\/p>\n

The 8 clamps finally completed.<\/p>\n

I have parts for another 4 clamps cut out along with some very long backs, although I may yet cut these down and instead add to my current two clamp length sets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
