It seems I did not take any pictures during the assembly process of the extension table frames,<\/p>\n

Just one that shows the completed frames<\/p>\n

and one showing them during painting.<\/p>\n

I needed to cut some hardwood for the sacrificial raised edges, so I cut these on the table saw from a piece of oak up-stand left over from our utility room worktop.<\/p>\n

These were ‘pressed’ into place with a mallet and then screws were added to secure them.<\/p>\n

I did not have any with 4mm heads, so made use of the smallest ones I had which unfortunately had heads about the same width as the oak and will require some cleanup.<\/p>\n

All pieces fitted and screwed in place.<\/p>\n

The legs were also made a while back during the painting process and have received a couple of coats of varnish to protect them<\/p>\n

I went looking for some suitable dowels to use and the best option I could find from what I had were some 14mm dowels that I believe came from an old set of bunk beds<\/p>\n

I drilled 13mm holes in the legs and 14mm holes in the sides of the extension tables, then used a clamp to press them in.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Pressed in all the way, and then a little extra so when it springs back, it will be just below the surface.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

All done – you will notice that I forgot to round off the tops of the legs, but I don’t believe this will be an issue as they don’t protrude above the frame at any point as they turn.<\/p>\n
