After filling out several questionnaires with the worktop supplier, they basically declared that they would not be offering any kind of replacement.<\/p>\n

As such I decided to fix it myself.<\/p>\n

I clamped a spare piece of wood to the worktop, filled the gap with glue and then used a third clamp to close the gap by pulling against the first piece of wood.<\/p>\n

Once the gap was closed and I had wiped off the excess glue, I also fired half a dozen brad nails through from the front edge to hold it all in place.<\/p>\n

I left it all to dry for about 48 hours before removing the clamps.<\/span>

<\/span>All looks as good as new.<\/span><\/p>\n

Next task was fitting a new curtain rail<\/span><\/p>\n

The hose you can see on the window sill is from the tumble dryer that is currently sat on the floor just out of shot whilst we finish off the worktop.<\/p>\n

Next task was hanging the curtains and fitting the curtain hold back items.<\/p>\n
