Upgrades &#8211; CCTV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now that my network was reasonably stable, I decided I wanted to expand my use of the Ubiquiti Unifi products to include some of their CCTV camera range.<\/p>\n<p>Initially I purchased 3 of the outdoor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubnt.com\/unifi-video\/unifi-video-camera-g3\/\">UVC-G3-AF<\/a> cameras.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/12\/uvc-g3af.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;margin-right: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"525\" data-original-width=\"700\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/12\/uvc-g3af-300x225.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>But quickly added 3 of the indoor <a href=\"https:\/\/unifi-video.ubnt.com\/g3-flex\">UVC-G3-Flex<\/a> cameras.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/12\/UVC-G3-FLEX.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;margin-right: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"694\" data-original-width=\"800\" height=\"277\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/12\/UVC-G3-FLEX-300x260.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Rather than purchase an NVR device, I decided to install the Docker container to run a stand-alone version of <a href=\"https:\/\/hub.docker.com\/r\/pducharme\/unifi-video-controller\/\">Unifi Video<\/a>&nbsp;on my media server.<\/p>\n<p>I have placed the outside cameras, one showing my rear access road, one showing my rear garden and one showing my front drive.<\/p>\n<p>For the inside cameras, one is inside my garage, one by the front door and one in the lounge so I can keep an eye on our dogs.<\/p>\n<p>In order to guarantee a decent signal to\/from the garage I also purchased a pair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ui.com\/airmax\/nanostation-ac\/\">NS-5ACL<\/a> point to multi-point Wi-Fi transmitters, using one as an access point, the other as a station.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/12\/NS-5ACL.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;margin-right: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"480\" data-original-width=\"640\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/12\/NS-5ACL-300x225.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>These are Ubiquiti AirMax products and not part of the Unifi range, and as such do not show up as Unifi devices in the Unifi front end GUI and are initially accessed via the Unifi Discovery app and then configured via their own individual websites once an IP address has been set.<\/p>\n<p>I also purchased a Ubiquiti <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ui.com\/accessories\/nanoswitch\/\">N-SW<\/a>, which is a 4 port passive 24V PoE switch.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/12\/N-SW.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;margin-right: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"650\" data-original-width=\"650\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/12\/N-SW-300x300.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>and a couple of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ui.com\/accessories\/ethernet-surge-protector\/\">ETH-SP-G2<\/a> Surge protectors<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a style=\"background-color: white;color: #1d2228;, sans-serif;font-size: 13px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ui.com\/accessories\/instant-8023af-adapters\/\">INS-3AF-I-G<\/a> 48V to 24V PoE adapter, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ui.com\/airmax\/nanostation-ac\/\">NS-5ACL<\/a> units only run on 24V passive PoE and I was going to be running this from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubnt.com\/unifi-switching\/unifi-switch-8\/\">US-8-60W<\/a> switch that only does 48V 802.3AF PoE.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/12\/Screenshot-2B2019-05-31-2Bat-2B14.07.51.png\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;margin-right: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
