<\/a><\/p>\nI managed to maintain a 39% Peak\/Off-Peak ratio, which is an improvement on last month’s 46%.<\/p>\n
Electricity costs for the month of February: \u00a3212.96 for 2025, \u00a3401.60 for 2024 and \u00a3692.51 for 2023 – some great on-going savings.<\/p>\n
Electricity demand for the month of February: 1321kWh for 2025, 1581kWh for 2024 and 1875kWh for 2023.<\/p>\n
The additional savings for this year are almost entirely down to the Solar and Battery as I was on the same tariff last February as I am now, I used 200kWh more electricity, yet it cost me about 50% less.<\/p>\n
This can also be seen in the month on month usage vs cost graphs<\/p>\n
February Solar:<\/p>\n Actual production exceeded the forecast on most days, although both actual and forecast were still very low.<\/p>\n The various arrays produced the following levels of energy: Garage 91.96kWh, Office 75.79kWh, East 45.48kWh, West 57.98kWh for a total of 271.22kWh.<\/p>\n Not a great month for solar production, I managed to export 4.66kWh for a total saving of \u00a30.70<\/p>\n The import costs of \u00a3212.96 less the export savings of \u00a30.70 means my net cost for February was \u00a3212.26 for 1321kWh of demand making my average rate \u00a30.1607\/kWh.<\/p>\n February Gas:<\/p>\n Gas costs for the month of February: \u00a3201.76 for 2025, \u00a3166.00 for 2024 and \u00a3339.41 for 2023.<\/p>\n Gas usage for the month of February: 3061kWh for 2025, 2236kWh for 2024 and 3378kWh for 2023.<\/p>\n No significant saving vs last year, however quite a lot more gas consumed and associated savings were as a result of being on the Octopus Gas Tracker tariff vs the Octopus Standard Gas Tariff.<\/p>\n Again all visible in the usage vs cost graphs<\/p>\n Some of this may be down to the average daily temperature differences,\u00a0 2024 on the left, 2025 on the right, this February being a fair bit colder than last year.<\/p>\n I will continue to compare to my old 2023 E-ON Prices for ongoing savings which for this month amount to \u00a3212.96.<\/p>\n There were four Saver Sessions this month, 12\/2, 17\/2, 18\/2 and 25\/2, my Home Assistant automation signed me up to all of them automatically<\/p>\n I received notification about all of these sessions via emails sent round midday of the day in question.<\/p>\n The first one was between 17:30 and 18:30 of the 12th February, offering 96 Octopoints (12p) per kWh saved.<\/p>\n The second one was between 17:30 and 18:30 of the 17th February, offering 104 Octopoints (13p) per kWh saved.<\/p>\n The third one was between 17:00 and 18:00 of the 18th February, offering 104 Octopoints (13p) per kWh saved.<\/p>\n The third one was between 17:30 and 18:30 of the 25th February, offering 104 Octopoints (13p) per kWh saved.<\/p>\n Since these were all offering less than my export guarantee and way less than the peak rate, I made no effort to charge the batteries beforehand, or discharge them during the sessions<\/p>\n As a result some of my savings were somewhat low.<\/p>\n I managed to save a massive 0.33kWh on the 12th, which netted me 32 Octopints (\u00a30.04).<\/p>\n I saved nothing at all on the 17th.<\/p>\n The 18th happened to be a sunny day, so my batteries were charged up and so I saved 2.08kWh which earned me 216 Octopoints (\u00a30.27).<\/p>\n The 25th was also a sunny day, and like the 18th, my batteries carried me through for a saving of \u00a32.15kWh which earned me 224 Octopoints (\u00a30.28).<\/p>\n The savings were really not worth bothering with, beyond earning a free hour of electricity.<\/p>\n All of these sessions were offering less than half of the lowest rate offered last month<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" There were a number of Saver Sessions during the month of February, but more on those later.
