Rowvember and Zwift"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in October I bought a <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.wahoofitness.com\/devices\/indoor-cycling\/bike-trainers\/kickr\">Wahoo Kickr<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.wahoofitness.com\/devices\/indoor-cycling\/accessories\/kickr-climb\">Wahoo Kickr Climb<\/a> secondhand from someone on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebay.co.uk\/\">Ebay<\/a> for about half of their new prices.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/kickr_product.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-39 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/kickr_product-300x218.jpg\" alt=\"Wahoo Kickr\" width=\"300\" height=\"218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/kickr_product-300x218.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/kickr_product-768x559.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/kickr_product.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.wahoofitness.com\/devices\/indoor-cycling\/accessories\/kickr-climb\">Wahoo Kickr Climb<\/a> came with a few parts missing so I contacted Wahoo customer support and arranged for them to send me some replacements.<\/p>\n<p>I also needed a different cassette for the <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.wahoofitness.com\/devices\/indoor-cycling\/bike-trainers\/kickr\">Wahoo Kickr<\/a> as it came with a 12 speed set and none of my bikes have shifters that can manage more than 8.<\/p>\n<p>The new cassette came from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.decathlon.co.uk\/\">Decathlon<\/a> and a set of tools for changing cassettes, cranks, etc came from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebay.co.uk\/\">Ebay<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once everything was finally capable of being setup and connected I did my first ride on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rgtcycling.com\/\">RGT Cycling<\/a>, performing a few laps of the Canary Warf segment for a total of 15km. however I was somewhat unimpressed with the available free offerings so decided to have a look at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zwift.com\/\">Zwift<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n<p>Since my son was also interested in riding and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zwift.com\/\">Zwift<\/a> is free for under 18s, I ultimately decided to sign us both up.<\/p>\n<p>I also found a cheap second hand 16 speed road bike for my son on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebay.co.uk\/\">Ebay<\/a> that was only a few miles away and decided to use that on the <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.wahoofitness.com\/devices\/indoor-cycling\/bike-trainers\/kickr\">Wahoo Kickr.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>My first ride on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zwift.com\/\">Zwift<\/a> was on 19 November and was the &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/zwiftinsider.com\/route\/flat-route\/\">Flat Route<\/a>&#8216; which is 10.3km with a 0.5km lead in with a total elevation of 54m, I completed this in 21:42.<\/p>\n<p>I then did just over a lap of the <a href=\"https:\/\/zwiftinsider.com\/route\/volcano-circuit\/\">Volcano Circuit<\/a> which is 4.1km with a 1.3km lead in and 17m of elevation, I completed 5.86km and 28m of elevation in 12:50 before being called for dinner.<\/p>\n<p>My next ride on 20 November was for 10 laps of the <a href=\"https:\/\/zwiftinsider.com\/route\/volcano-circuit\/\">Volcano Circuit<\/a> for a total of 42.27km and 211m of elevation in a time of 1:47:15, with a best time of 9:09 for a circuit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/Volcano-Circuit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-58 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/Volcano-Circuit-300x162.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/Volcano-Circuit-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/Volcano-Circuit-768x416.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/Volcano-Circuit.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/darkhorserowing.com\/\">Dark Horse Rowing<\/a> was doing a daily challenge called &#8216;Rowvember&#8217; that I decided to sign up for, although I started a couple of days late, they had a few issues with sending out some of the daily details, so it worked out well for me, I was just doing them all a couple of days behind.<\/p>\n<p>Set a new 2K PB on 4th November as part of one of the &#8216;Rowvember&#8217; challenges at 7:45.8, but it was an interval, so does not count as a ranked workout.<\/p>\n<p>On the 16th November I passed my first million metres on the RowERG, which entitled me to a free t-shirt, a pin and also a certificate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/Screenshot-2022-04-03-at-14.42.02.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/Screenshot-2022-04-03-at-14.42.02-300x232.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/Screenshot-2022-04-03-at-14.42.02-300x232.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/Screenshot-2022-04-03-at-14.42.02-768x593.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2022\/04\/Screenshot-2022-04-03-at-14.42.02.png 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Towards the end of the month, <a href=\"https:\/\/darkhorserowing.com\/\">Dark Horse Rowing<\/a> had a Black Friday special for membership of &#8216;The Crew&#8217; that I decided to take up for a year&#8217;s membership<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.concept2.com\/\">Concept 2<\/a> also started their <a href=\"https:\/\/log.concept2.com\/challenges\/holiday\">Holiday Challenge<\/a> on the 24th, which is another team challenge for total metres rowed.<\/p>\n<p>During the month of November I managed a total of 99 hours of exercise, walked 398km climbed 293 flights of stairs, cycled 74km and rowed 288km.<\/p>\n<p>By the end of the month my weight was 14 Stone 11lb (207lb\/94kg), a loss of 7lb (3.1kg).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in October I bought a Wahoo Kickr and Wahoo Kickr Climb secondhand from someone on Ebay for about half of their new prices.
