The Frame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My order from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/\">Motedis<\/a>\u00a0arrived yesterday,<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/\">Motedis<\/a>\u00a0include any left over pieces if you choose to have your items cut from standard 2, 3, 4 or 6m lengths, instead of specifying individual lengths.<\/p>\n<p>I used\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.optimizecutter.com\/product-pipe-cutting-software.html\">GoNest 1D<\/a>\u00a0to optimise my cutting plan and allow for the kerf\/waste generated by each cut.<\/p>\n<p>This is 4 x 6m lengths of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/shop\/Slot-profiles\/Profile-20-B-Type-slot-6\/Profile-20x20-B-type-slot-6::999991.html\">20x20mm<\/a>\u00a0and 2 x 960mm lengths of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/shop\/Slot-profiles\/Profile-20-B-Type-slot-6\/Profile-20x40-B-Typ-Slot-6::99999158.html\">20x40mm<\/a>\u00a0aluminium extrusion cut according to my requirements.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/02\/Motedis-order-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-222 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/02\/Motedis-order-2-300x244.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"244\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/02\/Motedis-order-2-300x244.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/02\/Motedis-order-2-768x624.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.hslracing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/02\/Motedis-order-2.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The cutting list included parts for my <a href=\"http:\/\/zebethyalprusa.blogspot.co.uk\/2015\/02\/mini-kossel-build-part-1-frame.html\">Mini Kossel 3D printer<\/a> (3 x 660mm,\u00a09 x 240mm\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/shop\/Slot-profiles\/Profile-20-B-Type-slot-6\/Profile-20x20-B-type-slot-6::999991.html\">20x20mm<\/a>\u00a0extrusions and the 3\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/shop\/Dynamics-Basics\/Profile-Glide\/Slider-B-Type-Slot-6::99999563.html\">sliders<\/a>)\u00a0as well as parts for the rotary axis (2 x 440mm, 1 x 140mm and 2 x 50mm\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/shop\/Slot-profiles\/Profile-20-B-Type-slot-6\/Profile-20x20-B-type-slot-6::999991.html\">20x20mm<\/a>\u00a0extrusions), the total for all the parts from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/\">Motedis<\/a>\u00a0came to \u00a3110.16 ($170.00) + P&amp;P.<\/p>\n<p>The M5\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.robotdigg.com\/product\/237\/Post-Assembly-T-Nuts-for-2020-Aluminum-Extrusion\">T-Nuts<\/a>\u00a0came from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.robotdigg.com\/\">RobotDigg<\/a>\u00a0@ $7.50 (\u00a34.80) for 100.<\/p>\n<p>The various screws, studding (all-thread), nuts and washers, most in multiples of 100, came from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbitalfasteners.co.uk\/\">Orbital Fastners<\/a>\u00a0who provide free local delivery for orders over \u00a330.00 ($46.50).<\/p>\n<p>I tend to over order from them as I always need more of various random fasteners for my many and varied projects.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amberspyglass.co.uk\/\">Amber Spyglass<\/a> have been out of stock of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inventables.com\/technologies\/makerslide\">Makerslide<\/a>\u00a0for a while, although they keep promising that it will be back in stock soon.<\/p>\n<p>As such I will make a start on the frame and add in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inventables.com\/technologies\/makerslide\">Makerslide<\/a>\u00a0parts later.<\/p>\n<p>On starting to assemble the frame it slowly occurs to me that something is not quite right, firstly I seem to be missing the 2 x 580mm lengths of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/shop\/Slot-profiles\/Profile-20-B-Type-slot-6\/Profile-20x20-B-type-slot-6::999991.html\">20x20mm<\/a>\u00a0extrusion, required for the Z table, but also I have too many 560mm, 960mm and a few other lengths of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/shop\/Slot-profiles\/Profile-20-B-Type-slot-6\/Profile-20x20-B-type-slot-6::999991.html\">20x20mm<\/a>\u00a0extrusion.<\/p>\n<p>After checking my cutting list several times, it would seem that I missed the 2 x 580 lengths out of my request, but also that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.motedis.co.uk\/\">Motedis<\/a>\u00a0have sent me the cut list of parts from one of the 6m lengths twice!<\/p>\n<p>As such I have 3 x 960mm, 1 x 730mm, 3 x 560mm, 1 x 230mm, 1 x 160mm, 1 x 140mm and whatever remainder lengths as spares\/extras.<\/p>\n<p>My simplest solution for the Z table is to simply make it 20mm narrower and use 2 of the spare 560mm pieces, rather than cut down 2 of the 960mm pieces, this will have little, if any, real effect on the available cutting area.<\/p>\n<p>I will also simply adjust the size of the larger of the 2 plates that hold the rotary axis by 20mm (it was quite wide anyway, this makes it closer in size to the other plate &#8211; I was intending to print these anyway, this will save me some plastic into the bargain.<\/p>\n<p>This also means that I can use the remaining 560mm length as a middle support in the power supply\/electronics bay, just like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buildlog.net\/forum\/viewtopic.php?f=16&amp;t=2590\">Scott Shwarts<\/a>\u00a0did in his build, do away with the sheet of Plywood\/MDF and 3D print any required mounting brackets. They would come with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vxb.com\/page\/bearings\/PROD\/6mm\/606ZZ-1\">606 bearings<\/a> and micro switches installed and includes all 6mm and 12mm parts except for the laser tube mounts, (although I could probably be persuaded to print these as well), a 48 tooth gt2 pulley 6mm bore and 2 x pulleys for a rotational axis. Total price \u00a330.00 + P&amp;P, which is still well under half the price of other parts suppliers.
